Babies Are Beautiful

By Matt Lockett

Breaking from my usual punch-in-the-neck posts laced liberally with legislative importunity, I wanted to take this opportunity to bring a little light into your Monday. We all need to push back from the desk of cultural engagement every now and then and be reminded of why we're doing this.

I just did a Bound4LIFE conference in California this past weekend with the Justice House of Prayer San Diego (follow them @jhopsd), and my friend Eddie Brown made a beautiful point that children are a blessing and not a curse–a revolutionary mindset that needs to grip our hearts.

Psalm 127 (New King James Version)
A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.
1 Unless the LORD builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep.
3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.

4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Take a look at the following video. Chances are you've already seen this because almost 95,000,000 other people have too. C'mon! Why do you think NINTY FIVE MILLION people are fascinated with this? I think it goes way beyond just being a cute video and begins to touch on the divine reality that children are a reward. 1:41 of beauty.
