Relentless

By Micah Meisburg

Over the past four years, I have participated in silent gatherings of prayer at the largest surgical abortion facility in Kansas City: Planned Parenthood of Overland Park. Thousands of children lose their lives here every year.

Relentless.

By now I can recognize the faces of the staff and doctors, and undoubtedly, some can recognize me as well. Through the challenges of each season, our team has braved the elements to stand in prayer outside of this fortress-like building.

I have lost count of all the times!

On the siege line, there is a battle that rages around and within. Shouts of profanity might fill your ears. Sorrow might fill your heart as you witness firsthand such brazen infamy. What seemed so noble at first begins to feel distasteful. “Don’t you have anything better to do? Mind your own business!” Or so the voices say.

Yet there is a motivation that surpasses the discouragement of injustice and disdain. It is a motivation that surpasses human ability, and has strengthened my hope, time and time again. It is something more powerful than death, and to which all resistance must ultimately give way – the persevering love of Jesus Christ.

“Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.’” (Luke 23:34)

Jesus longs to save the hardest heart. While He was crucified, He prayed for His oppressors, and used His final strength to ask the Father for their forgiveness. He is not willing for any to perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Pet 3:9). This includes abortion doctors and their families, and those in the abortion industry who feel no remorse for the blood upon their hands.

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Rom. 12:21 cf. Matt. 5:44, Jas. 2:13)

I believe the recent conversion of Abby Johnson, former director of a Planned Parenthood in Texas, is a window into the heart of God for the abortionists of America. He loves them! While they yet breathe, He will never stop pursuing them, despite their persistent rebellion.

Though judgments in different forms may come to awaken them, this too is His unrelenting desire for mercy before that final Day of Judgment. Let’s persevere with Jesus in prayer for the salvation of abortion personnel all across America!  Let’s believe for a breakthrough.

Jesus will not relent until they give in to His love.
