Abortion Clinic Employee Attacks Pregnant Pro-life Volunteer

By Ian Kelly

An abortion clinic employee attacked a pregnant pro-life volunteer outside the Central Family Medicine abortion clinic in Kansas City, Kansas, while she was engaged in peaceful, First Amendment activity.

On November 14, 2009, an unidentified abortion clinic employee came out of the Central Family Medicine abortion clinic and began to taunt the pro-lifers. Her verbal abuse escalated into violence as she rammed her shoulder into sidewalk counselor Jennifer McCoy, who is noticeably six months pregnant. A photograph taken by protest leader Mark Gietzen of the Kansas Coalition for Life shows McCoy recoiling and bracing for the hard impact that occurred a split second later.

Police were summoned, but the abortion worker attempted to flee the scene before they could arrive. McCoy followed the woman to keep her from evading the police. After realizing that she could not get away, the worker returned to the abortion clinic where she hid behind locked doors.

Police attempted to enter the clinic to arrest the woman for battery, but they were denied access by another worker who demanded that the police get a search warrant, then lied to them saying that the woman was not there.

McCoy has since been in contact with police, who are pursuing the case. There remains the possibility that the second abortion worker could face criminal charges for impeding a police investigation.

I can't help but be reminded of a new Chicago 'Bubble' law. The measure creates 8-foot zones around people within 50 feet of an abortion facility. Anyone who enters that space without consent could face a $500 fine.

Planned Parenthood is giddy about this law and released a statement concerning the measure:

"This new bubble zone will enhance public safety in a fair and constitutional manner," according to the statement. "The law strikes a delicate balance between the right to free speech with the need to protect people from harassment and intimidation."

....sure.

Anyway, reading the above story got me thinking that perhaps we need protection from abortion workers! You know, the ones who care about women so much they 'ram' a six months pregnant woman on a sidewalk. And then run inside the clinic to escape police.

Now that's "Women's Healthcare".

Wouldn’t that same law protect protesters from violent murderers like the worker who attacked McCoy?

I haven’t prayed that much in front of abortion clinics, the time I did, I spent it mostly in worship as I walked around the building. Then because Right to Life was next door I was able to pray out loud and broke down in tears for people whose lot is an eternity separated from Jesus. My hearts cry is that we remember while convicting people of their sins by bringing it to the light, that only the Holy Spirit of God can bring the kind of conviction that brings true repentance. We must lean on the Lord more now than ever before for Him to change the hearts of the people.
