EMERGENCY Health Care Bill Update from Tony Perkins

Senator Harry Reid has filed a procedural motion called "cloture" that would end debate on the health care bill. If it passes with the 60 votes required, then a vote on Reid's abortion funding health care bill would only require 50 votes to pass which is easily done in this majority liberal Senate. As of today, it is unclear whether Senator Reid has the 60 votes he requires.?? Senators need to hear from you all weekend that you oppose the "vote to end debate on this bill."

The bill still contains government funding of abortion and subsidies for plans that cover abortion--so please call your Senators today at 202-224-3121.

Senators must oppose any motion to end debate on any health care bill unless the Nelson-Hatch-Casey amendment is included, which would ensure no federal funds are used to pay for abortions.?? Some Senators are claiming the Hyde amendment (which bars most taxpayer funding of abortions) would apply to this health care bill.?? These Senators are wrong because this bill creates streams of funding not covered by Hyde.

If only 41 Senators oppose the motion to end debate then the bill cannot pass. Additionally, news reports say that Senator Casey has floated "compromise" language that would still allow government subsidies to go to plans that cover elective abortion. This is unacceptable.

Urge opposition to any such abortion funding scheme and ask Senators to oppose the bill unless the Nelson-Hatch-Casey language is included in the final bill. This is necessary to maintain the status quo by preventing government funding for elective abortion or plans that cover elective abortion.

Contact your Senators today at 202-224-3121 and urge them to oppose cloture on the Reid health care bill.

Christina Martin is the director of Bound4Life Atlanta and an intercessory missionary at the International House of Prayer Atlanta. For the past 4 years Christina has given herself to the occupation of intercession. It’s her full time job to stand before heaven and earth, God and man, asking for mercy and crying out for truth. Christina is committed to fighting for the unborn. She feels for them because she herself had an appointment to die. Literally. 28 years ago her mother was sitting in a hospital room, waiting for the abortion doctor to call her into his office. An elderly black janitor saw her mom crying and asked her one question “Do you want to have this baby”? Her mom said yes, and the rest was history. She walked out of that clinic with hope in her heart and Christina still safely in her womb.

While in D.C God gave Christina a burden for the African-American community. She was shocked to find out how her race has been targeted by Planned Parenthood from the start of their organization. Christina is convinced she will see Roe v. Wade overturned and abortion end in her lifetime.
Ian Kelly is the "arm chair pundit" at Moral Outcry. He has worked full time for Bound4LIFE since 2007. His other responsibilities include local chapter development and new media communications. Besides being a political junkie, he enjoys history, sci-fi, super heroes and grilling.

She's only been arrested herself on two occasions, but that's enough for street cred. Susan Tyrrell leads Bound4LIFE in Gadsden, AL and works with prayer ministries in the state. She completed her doctorate this year in educational psychology from Texas A&M University, and she teaches college English to support her prayer habit.
Tiffani Edwards works with a pregnancy resource center in Arizona and is in leadership over the Phoenix House of Prayer. Before living in AZ she was on staff with the Justice House of Prayer in Washington, D.C. for almost 4 years. It was while being in D.C. that her passion for governmental intercession and the ending of abortion was birthed.
