Because of Lawlessness
We are becoming more aware that the lawlessness of which Jesus spoke is becoming acceptable behavior in mainstream areas: “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12). This is actually a sign of the end of the age. It should be a sign to us to rise higher, speaker louder, to be compelled to action, lest our own love grow cold, and, like I Tim. 4:2 says, we becomes like those who have their consciences “seared.”
In the course of one week just before the holidays, as we were preparing for our meetings in Houston and the health care debate has raged, two other stunning news stories broke.
The most striking was in our own nation as we learned of this woman accused of suffocating her baby after its birth. She wasn’t charged because:
“In the state of Virginia as long as the umbilical cord is attached and the placenta is still in the mother, if the baby comes out alive the mother can do whatever she wants to with that baby to kill it,” says Investigator Tracy Emerson. “She could shoot the baby, stab the baby. As long as it’s still attached to her in some form by umbilical cord or something it’s no crime in the state of Virginia.”
This is reminiscent of the Utah lady we wrote about in October who hired a man to beat her in order to induce a miscarriage, but when the baby lived, she decided to fight for custody.
Across the ocean, in the delegation in Copenhagen, which was considering climate issues, an answer that was proposed to solve the alleged climate problems was population control. A Chinese delegate said “China's population program has made a great historic contribution to the well-being of society,” citing China’s forced abortion policy.
Our nation is not being ruled by even a modicum of righteousness anymore. How long do we complain without action? How long do we allow the minority to rule the majority?
“How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” (Rev. 6:10)
