A Few Thoughts From Today's Silent Siege
I wanted to give you just a few thoughts from today's Siege of the Health Care Summit. We saw between 60 - 70 people show up for the Silent Siege and because of the limitations of the location the police allowed us to stand in we looked like a much bigger number. We were around 200 feet away from the Blair House which is where the Summit was going on.
We were asked to move several times because of the need for security but were always allowed to come back to our "spot". The moving was a bit distracting but we took it in stride as we simply stood on the adjacent street corner and continued to pray. But enough about logistics -- let's get down to the nitty-gritty.
Our motto about the Siege from our inception as a movement has been, "It's not a protest, it's a prayer meeting". Today I was so proud of that fact! There is just something about the LIFE tape that cuts through language and reason and goes right to the heart of the matter.
I remember just a few months ago, at the Supreme Court, activists from both the pro-life and pro-abortion camps gathered. The pro-abortion folks started yelling at a group of young pro-life women who in turn were yelling back. The pro-abortion ladies started circling around the young women and then busted into a chant. The young pro-life women soon look stunned and frankly unsure of what to do until one girl slipped through the crowd and came over to where we were standing and praying silently. She grabbed some LIFE tape from us and quickly made her way through the crowd and back into the center of the circle with the rest of her friends. Soon the rest of her friends got the idea and asked for tape as well.
Eventually, all the girls, being yelled and chanted at, had LIFE tape on their mouths... and then the tables turned. Silence became louder than words. And in the quiet they were heard clearly.
Do you know what changed from then to today?.... Nothing. The eyes of man were on us and we were heard. Our silence was loud. But more importantly intercession allowed us to once again dare to dream of America without abortion.
God end abortion and send revival.
Be heard. Sound off in the comments.
