  • Indian Mother Throws Baby Out Of Window

Posted by Ian Kelly on October 27, 2010

    The AP reports:

An Indian woman who gave birth prematurely to twins has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly throwing one of her children from a hospital window, police and hospital officials said.

The woman dropped the baby girl from a ground floor bathroom window of the KEM Hospital in central Mumbai early on Tuesday morning. The infant was found but had suffered head injuries and later died.

The girl’s mother initially claimed that her daughter had been stolen but security camera footage showed her going into the toilet with the baby and emerging without her.

    (…)

Indian media reported that the twins — a boy and a girl — were born prematurely at seven and a half months and were underweight before their transfer to the state-run hospital earlier this month.

Human rights groups have long expressed concern about sex-selective abortion — terminating a pregnancy on the basis of a child’s gender — and infanticide of baby girls in India, particularly in rural areas.

First off, if you are truly pro-choice than you must support the sex-selective abortion. It’s totally up to the mother, right? It’s the mother’s body, the mother’s prerogative, the mother’s choice.

Second, why is killing a child a few hours after birth different from killing a child a few hours before birth? Still a child either way.

Third, this child was not able to feed herself, clothe herself, help herself nor did she have the ability to ask for help or perhaps even reason that her life was in danger. In short, the babies condition outside of her mother was quite comparable to her condition inside her mother.

Yet, while most people would see this heinous act as unconscionable, we still have lawmakers and "health care" organizations who have fought and are fighting for things like partial-birth abortion.
