  • Obamacare upheld by Supreme Court, massively expanding abortion in the United States

Posted by Susan Michelle on June 28, 2012

Today the Supreme Court upheld all the major provisions of Obamacare, thereby allowing and further legalizing abortion by allowing the most massive expansion of abortion in our nation since the passage of Roe v. Wade which legalized abortion in 1973. We’ll have details of what this ruling means later, but what we know is that according to the Supreme Court:

The bottom line: the entire ACA is upheld, with the exception that the federal government’s power to terminate states’ Medicaid funds is narrowly read. The link to the entire PDF ruling is here.

When the health care act passed in 2010, it changed our nation by allowing more inroads to abortion, but it’s been held up with the question of its constitutionality–and the fact the blood money, literally, doesn’t start flowing in until 2014. Many Americans don’t understand the details yet of what it means, especially to pro-lifers.

At Bound4LIFE, of course, our focus is on prayer to end abortion. What this ruling means is that we now have the greatest expansion of the abortion industry since Roe V. Wade because it has rules that mandate abortive birth control. It very literally takes abortion into the soul of the nation because now the nation funds it directly through the act, requiring Americans to pay for drugs that induce abortions, as well as by instituting an “abortion premium” where we will be mandated to pay into what is literally an abortion fund. For some background, Americans United for Life wrote this informative article in anticipation of today’s ruling. AUL also noted back in March as the Court heard arguments in this case:

“AUL predicted that people’s First Amendment freedom of conscience rights could be violated by the healthcare law. We were right. Our predictions have come true on two fronts.

“In the guidelines for preventive care, the Obama Administration forces nearly all Americans to pay for life-ending drugs and devices such as the abortion-inducing drug ella, which the FDA has deceptively labeled as ‘contraception.’ In the broader healthcare law, the Act’s ‘abortion premium mandate’ violates the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment.

In its press release regarding Obamacare and its good for the nation, the White House said last year:

“One million more young Americans have health insurance, women are getting mammograms and preventive services without paying an extra penny out of their own pocket, and insurance companies have to spend more of your premiums on health care instead of advertising and bonuses.”

While there is no proof that Obamacare is a direct reason that one million more Americans have health insurance, what the White House neglected to add is that premiums went up across the board from virtually the moment the president signed it. However, beyond money is the cost in unborn lives. How many women will have “better” abortion coverage because of this health care “reform”? How many more babies will die because of the funding its given and will be given if implemented fully?

The high court wasn’t ruling on abortion, of course, but on the constitutionality of the mandate to force all Americans to buy health insurance, which is an issue of constitutional freedom. However, this ruling will affect abortion.

A nice summary of the issues at hand and the history I have seen so far can be found in Forbes magazine. Click here for the link.

While the health care plan is nice in theory—Americans should all have access to good and affordable health care—President Obama used this plan to remove some personal liberty, on which this nation was founded, and inject his views into the American public. It would have been possible to create coverage that did not expand abortion—an elective procedure—and did not violate conscience rights of Catholic hospitals and all pro-life health care workers, but instead, the president insisted on pushing through what amounts to his moral stances along with his health care concerns.

The Court’s ruling has never been about one health care plan but about the power of the American government to control even the moral views of its citizens against their will. Today the same court that legalized abortion in our nation almost 40 years ago decided it was not enough and voted to expand and fund that coverage further.

Ezekiel 22 warns us about the Lord’s opinion on this:

“Behold, therefore, I beat My fists at the dishonest profit which you have made, and at the bloodshed which has been in your midst. Can your heart endure, or can your hands remain strong, in the days when I shall deal with you? I, the Lord, have spoken, and will do it. I will scatter you among the nations, disperse you throughout the countries, and remove your filthiness completely from you. You shall defile yourself in the sight of the nations; then you shall know that I am the Lord.”’ (v. 13-16).

Psalm 2 reminds us that even our judges should be warned:

    10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear,
    And rejoice with trembling.
12  Kiss the Son,lest He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

Surely God has a contention with America on this decision. I encourage you to stop now and pray for our nation and ask the Lord for wisdom. Today’s decision changes our nation–and will drive the presidential election. We will be back later with more posts. Please follow the blog and our Facebook and Twitter for updates on how to respond as an intercessor first and activist second.

Jesus, we plead your blood over our sins and the sins of our nation. God, end abortion and send revival to America.
