This is part 2 of a series. For more information, view part 1. A Link to Part 3 will be added as it is published.

In January of this year, I felt that the Lord showed me two distinct things. These were described in great detail in my Roe v. Wade 40th anniversary post “Divine deadline.” One was that God was setting His deadlines for abortion. The other had to do with dishonest or inaccurate scales. The past three months have presented an extraordinary series of state-level legislative efforts that have left the pro-abortion lobby reeling back on its heels. I believe the deadlines are in fact now manifesting, and it gives me great faith that God is moving right now in answer to much prayer. I have been pondering more about the scales though.

Proverbs 11:1 says, “Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.” This theme is repeated several times throughout scripture. When the Lord highlighted this to me in January, I understood that in this case Roe v. Wade had tampered with our weights. These new false weights have made it so that we cannot accurately weigh the value of human life. Our scales are off, and subsequently more and more of our values are as well.

I think there is another dimension to the scales though, and it has to do with God’s scales—His justice. There is no question that the ugliest parts of the abortion industry are being exposed right now in increasing measure. The debate in the last few years has centered on birth control and so-called women’s health. These are huge topics for sure, but something has emerged in the meantime. We as a nation are now revisiting late-term abortion and infanticide in spite of the fact that Congress passed the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act in 2002. We’re revisiting it because there appears to be an increasing number of examples where BAIPA isn’t preventing the abortion industry from murdering constitutionally protected Americans. While this is obviously an enormous legal question for the nation to grapple with, I believe God is using infanticide to pierce our hearts and speak to us about abortion as a whole. God is weighing our response.

The stories that came out of the Kermit Gosnell trial in Philadelphia were horrific. Recent undercover videos of abortionists Leroy Carhart and Cesare Santangelo are nauseating. Take a few minutes and read a May 8th in-depth National Review Online report of events surrounding abortion facilities in Florida: “Abortion’s Underside.” Think these heinous stories are unusual in an otherwise pleasant and safe abortion industry? Don’t be naive. THEY ARE NOT. News is now breaking of another “house of horrors” in Houston run by an abortionist named Douglas Karpen. This week Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst called for a full-scale investigation after three former employees came forward with horrifying testimonies and photographs.

In fact, on March 26, 2013 Planned Parenthood representative Alisa LaPolt Snow argued publicly FOR infanticide. Planned Parenthood argues for less and less regulatory efforts at every level in spite of the fact that Gosnell’s house of horrors happened because of, as the grand jury identified, a “regulatory collapse.” In Gosnell’s “anything-goes environment,” fewer regulations are not the answer. If you think about it, Planned Parenthood has to argue that way. Their severely flawed logic demands that they protect their murderous ideology at every level. That’s why I think Planned Parenthood has to own up to guys like Kermit Gosnell instead of acting like he’s an anomaly. Their efforts to decry him after the guilty verdict are a feeble attempt at damage control. In fact, every person calling themselves “pro-choice” must own up to Kermit Gosnell. Certainly, President Obama must own up to him given the fact that as an Illinois Senator he voted in support of infanticide.

Don’t like that idea? Good. It should be disturbing. I think God is dragging out of it’s horrid den the most vile form of the pro-choice movement. He is laying it before America and asking, “What do you think?” I’ll go a step further and say that God is dragging this thing out specifically in front of the church and asking, “IS THIS SIN?” I shutter when I hear main stream media commentators like Marc Lamont Hill admit, “I do think that those of us on the left have made a decision not to cover this trial [Gosnell] because we worry that it’ll compromise abortion rights.” (source) Political and ideological allegiances surface in moments like this kicking truth, law, health and integrity into the ditch. Will we look away? Will we consciously ignore it? Will the church ignore it? I think God is looking for a definitive response right now. Can I even say that He is demanding a response? What we do next is of huge importance, and I believe heaven is watching closely. In the last post, I closed with the words of revivalist Charles Finney, and I’ll continue that here. In his lecture “Hindrances to Revivals,” Finney discussed the church’s divine responsibility to respond to the slavery question. The same words hold true for us today regarding abortion and revival.

It is impossible that their [the church’s] testimony should not be given, on one side or the other. Their silence can no longer be accounted for upon the principle of ignorance, and that they have never had their attention turned to the subject. Consequently, the silence of Christians upon the subject is virtually saying that they do not consider slavery as a sin. The truth is, it is a subject upon which they cannot be silent without guilt. The time has come, in the providence of God, when every southern breeze is loaded down with the cries of lamentation, mourning and wo. Two millions of degraded heathen in our own land stretch their hands, all shackled and bleeding, and send forth to the church of God the agonizing cry for help. And shall the church, in her efforts to reclaim and save the world, deafen her ears to this voice of agony and despair? God forbid. The church cannot turn away from this question. It is a question for the church and for the nation to decide, and God will push it to a decision. (emphasis added)

This is part 1 of a series. Links to part 2 and part 3 will be included as they are published.

I try to be a student of history. More specifically, I am fascinated by the history of revival, and yet I long to see it for myself. My generation has no contemporary knowledge of what it looks like when revival begins to sweep through a city, region or nation. At least not in the West. The years have ticked by, and those with first-hand knowledge—the eye witnesses—have passed away. All that remains are their letters, notes, journals, and teachings. Selective and revisionist history-telling minimizes and even omits the moves of God from the national storyline. Without it we lose the context of moral and cultural reboots that have carried us into, through and beyond crisis.

I believe America’s response to abortion is being weighed right now in God’s scales. More accurately, the church’s response is being weighed. The current thrust of pro-life legislation in states like Virginia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas has brought the LIFE issue to the forefront yet again. For three consecutive years we have experienced a truly unprecedented advance in efforts to protect the lives of babies in the womb as well as their mothers. 2013 is the most encouraging year yet. At the same time the jury is still out on the Kermit Gosnell “house of horrors” case in Philadelphia (at the time of this writing). Late-term abortionist Leroy Carhart has just been exposed on video referring to a murdered baby in the womb as “meat in a crockpot.” Abortionist Cesare Santangelo has been exposed on video saying that if a baby were to be born alive in his facility after an attempted abortion he would NOT do what is legally required to save the life of the baby. There are many other examples. MANY!

It bears repeating again that these atrocities are not limited to individual doctors. Planned Parenthood representative Alisa LaPolt Snow in Florida recently argued before legislators (March 26, 2013) for infanticide in the event that a baby was born alive after a failed abortion. THIS IS INHUMAN. Also bear in mind that Leroy Carhart is continually hailed as a hero of the entire pro-abortion industry and was recently honored in the pro-abortion documentary “After Tiller.” So-called “pro-choice” Americans have to own up to these atrocious actions and murderous mindsets.

What does this have to do with revival? I believe these events are tied directly to whether or not revival will be hindered in the United States. Our response to them is key.

As a pro-life leader I’m prayerfully watching this play out right now. I rejoice at all the exposure taking place, and yet I also wonder who’s paying attention. Yes, the media admittedly is selectively not reporting on some of what’s happening. The Gosnell case has proven this. And yet the pro-life community has thrust it forward regardless via social media and public outcry demanding that the information be covered. Reluctantly, more and more detail has emerged. Light is being “thrown in upon the minds” of all Americans.

What does the church have to say right now about all this? Do we have anything to say about it? I’m not talking about the stalwart pro-life activists who continually blow the trumpet. I’m talking about the (approximately) 350,000 congregations in the United States. What do the overwhelming majority of Christians have to say about infanticide? Statistically this is a small percentage of the overwhelming number of abortions that are done legally in our nation, but it is without a doubt the most horrendous. Are our pulpits and fellowships discussing this and our need to act? I believe God is using infanticide right now to weigh our response. Will we ignore even this?

THEN, how does our answer to the infanticide question develop into a rational, logical and sound theological conclusion on abortion as a whole? We must answer this question now without any further delay.

I leave you with the words of Charles Finney, the central figure of the Second Great Awakening in America. These words are taken from a message titled “Hindrances to Revivals.” I hope to expound more on this in another post, but let me leave this with you relating it to what’s happening right now in the nation.

Revivals are hindered when ministers and churches take wrong ground in regard to any question involving human rights. Take the subject of SLAVERY, for instance. The time was when this subject was not before the public mind…So ministers and churches, to a great extent throughout the land, have held their peace, and borne no testimony against this abominable abomination, existing in the church and in the nation. But recently, the subject has come up for discussion, and the providence of God has brought it distinctly before the eyes of all men. Light is now shed upon this subject…Facts are exhibited, and principles established, and light thrown in upon the minds of men, and this monster is dragged from his horrid den, and exhibited before the church, and it is demanded of them, “IS THIS SIN?” Their testimony must be given on this subject. They are God’s witnesses.

First-hand descriptions from friends in attendance at the hearing have left me nauseated. This report will certainly not be easy to watch, and yet we must watch it.
The main stream media has been reluctant and slow to touch this story because it involves the darling of the liberal media—abortion. The details of this story are beyond shocking. I strongly urge you to watch this report tonight.

Brothers and Sisters,

This past weekend we hosted Hilltop Conference 2013. It was nothing less than a divine “convergence.” Local and regional believers gathered together in DC as well as Bound4LIFE Chapter Leaders from all across the United States and Mexico. Hearts were knit together in extraordinary ways. I was blown away.

Leading into the gathering, I had felt the Lord was prompting me to invite leaders from both Mexico and Canada. I didn’t fully understand what the Lord wanted to do, but I had sensed that He wanted to create a synergy in prayer for LIFE in all three nations. As I discussed this with my Canadian friend Faytene Grasseschi, director of TheCRY Movement, she said, “This sounds like some kind of ‘continental convergence.’” Immediately, I knew God was after a three-fold cord among our nations in which we would bless one another and contend for each other’s destinies. Life for North America!

Acts 17 tells us the Lord determined the boundaries of the nations before they rose and fell, and we know that He has selected Canada and Mexico to be the “neighbors” we are to love as ourselves. Already JHOP DC and Bound4LIFE have experienced the benefit of the profound generosity of our brothers and sisters from Canada and Mexico. Now we have the opportunity to contend and sow generously back into our sister, Canada.

On April 28th, 25 women will walk from Montreal to the Supreme Court of Canada with the Back to Life Movement as a prophetic prayer journey reversing 25 years of unrestricted access to abortion. We have prayed fervently against abortion in the United States. Do we have faith to support our Canadian brothers and sisters as well?

The church is on the precipice of a cultural shift and continental unity that could end abortion not just in the United States—not just in Canada—not just in Mexico—but in the entire continent of North America. Will you unite together with us to see Canada prosper?

Back to Life Canada begins in just over a week, and there is still an outstanding need of $25,338.74. This is not a time to give small donations, but it is a time to stretch the extent of your generosity. We as JHOP DC and Bound4LIFE are sending this URGENT call to support Faytene Grasseschi and Back to Life Canada in this time of need. This is fertile soil to sow into generously. Let’s dream bigger dreams than ever before. Will you stand in agreement with us to bless Canada and declare that their battles are our battles too? “God end abortion, send revival to North America!”

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is less than two miles from Bound4LIFE’s headquarters in Washington, DC. I have visited it many times, and I have always been profoundly impacted by what I encounter there both mentally and emotionally—whether it’s standing in an actual train car once filled with Jews being transported to death camps or first learning about Aktion T4.

From 1933 to 1945 Eugenics research reached a quick and inevitable maturity in the form of Nazi Germany and their reign of terror. In the name of “racial hygiene,” we have long heard quoted the number of Jews murdered by the Nazis to be six million. We now call it a holocaust, but, ironically, Nazis credited America with having discipled them in eugenics theory and study.

“60,000 Reischmark is what this ill person costs this community of (German) people during a lifetime. Patriot / brother, this is also your money.”

Aktion (Action) T4 was a clandestine agenda enacted early on to euthanize the infirmed and disabled throughout the nation. Nazis claimed it was the duty of German citizens to not waste finances on caring for such people. All for a stronger Germany! This Nazi propaganda poster to the right reminds German citizens that it costs them 60,000 Reichsmark to care for this person suffering from hereditary defects throughout his lifetime. What a reasonable and fiscally sound position to suggest, right? Just look at the doctor in his nice white lab coat. Seems trustworthy, right? RIGHT?

Official Nazi records indicate that 70,273 people were legally euthanized through Action T4. Perhaps it was too bold and too sudden for the German people though. Loved ones and children alike who had been entrusted to medical institutions were disappearing, and the registration of ill children had begun. When the euthanasia program was uncovered, public outcry seemed to cause a halt to the brutal order. However, during the Nuremberg Trials, evidence was discovered that the work had secretly continued, and the program was responsible for perhaps 275,000 people being killed.

“More recent research based on files that were recovered after 1990 gives a figure of at least 200,000 physically or mentally handicapped people that were killed by medication, starvation, or in the gas chambers between 1939 and 1945.”1

Remember that these atrocities occurred in places characterized as hospitals and medical facilities. The lethal injections and gas chambers that were disguised as “showers” developed under the program were a foretaste of the killing methods Nazis would become infamous for using to achieve their Final Solution. The truth that was revealed after the war was that the actual number of deaths were far greater than anyone had initially realized.

On March 1st, The New York Times reported on a story that has stunned experts. Researchers from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum began in 2000 the task of documenting all ghettos, slave labor sites, concentration camps and killing factories established by Nazis throughout Europe. The sheer number of sites discovered has “shocked even scholars steeped in the history of the Holocaust.” When work began, lead researcher Dr. Geoffrey Megargee expected to find about 7,000 sites based on post-war estimates. The numbers quickly rose and continued to rise until reaching an overwhelming 42,500 sites.

“The numbers astound: 30,000 slave labor camps; 1,150 Jewish ghettos; 980 concentration camps; 1,000 prisoner-of-war camps; 500 brothels filled with sex slaves; and thousands of other camps used for euthanizing the elderly and infirm, performing forced abortions, ‘Germanizing’ prisoners or transporting victims to killing centers.”

Again, the take-away from this story is that the actual number of deaths were far greater than anyone had initially realized. Only now can we consider that history has woefully underestimated what really took place.

When I saw this report, I couldn’t help but think about the holocaust of abortion that we are facing. We’ve just passed the 40-year mark since Roe v Wade, and currently most pro-life organizations are quoting 54 million abortions total. We begrudgingly point to Guttmacher Institute currently reporting more than 1.21 million annual abortions in the U.S.2 I say “begrudgingly” because the preferred source of statistics is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Guttmacher Institute was the invention of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and is the primary tool used to justify their failing programs. Their namesake, Alan F. Guttmacher, was once the vice president of…drumroll please…the American Eugenics Society.

The CDC, however, only notes 784,507 abortions annually.3 That’s a discrepancy of almost half a million people. Why the huge difference? It’s because, as the CDC points out, not all states care to report their numbers. Namely California, Delaware, Maryland, and New Hampshire are not included in their most recent report. California has the most abortion centers of any one state at 522 providers4 dwarfing even New York’s 249.5 The huge disparity in numbers created by the inability to accurately determine the true amount of abortions casts long shadows of doubt on the whole situation. Now compound this with the reality of abortive birth control, and the mess grows to unimaginable proportions impossible to quantify. The numbers that most pro-life organizations are quoting, truth be told, are very very conservative. In other words, they’re low. Even though it’s already difficult to wrap our minds around the legal murder of 54 million Americans, the truth is that those numbers are still tragically low.

Eugenics ideology is alive and well today, and we’re not really all that different from the Nazi physicians carrying out Action T4. Right now, a staggering 92% of babies prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted.6 The culture calls the termination of their lives “merciful.” By definition that’s euthanasia—“mercy killing.” Hitler’s Euthanasie Programme at least created some public outcry, but virtually no one blinks an eye over the murder of these precious ones. God help us.

Action T4 was the abbreviation of “Tiergartenstraße 4.” That was the address in a Berlin borough of Tiergarten of the headquarters of the Gemeinnützige Stiftung für Heil- und Anstaltspflege. That translates as “Charitable Foundation for Cure and Institutional Care.” Under the guise of healthcare and medicine, Action T4 was carried out right under the noses of the German people. Consider today that just because Planned Parenthood uses the words “clinic” and “preventative care” doesn’t mean much. Just because the President or a congressman says the words “women’s healthcare” doesn’t mean that dark agendas aren’t really at work. Those buzz words are designed to strike all the right nerves, but they’re a thinly veiled attempt to calm us all down. I refuse to calm down.

“When principles that run against your deepest convictions begin to win the day, then battle is your calling, and peace has become sin; you must, at the price of dearest peace, lay your convictions bare before friend and enemy, with all the fire of your faith.” –Abraham Kuyper

The New York Times article concludes:

“In Berlin alone, researchers have documented some 3,000 camps and so-called Jew houses, while Hamburg held 1,300 sites. Dr. Dean, a co-researcher, said the findings left no doubt in his mind that many German citizens, despite the frequent claims of ignorance after the war, must have known about the widespread existence of the Nazi camps at the time. ‘You literally could not go anywhere in Germany without running into forced labor camps, P.O.W. camps, concentration camps,’ he said. ‘They were everywhere.’”

Currently, statistics show that by age 45 nearly one in three women will have had at least one abortion.7 This percentage makes one thing abundantly clear: Everywhere you go in America there is abortion. We cannot deny that it’s happening, or say that we don’t know about it. Like many well-meaning and upstanding citizens of Germany, will we feign ignorance? Will we choose to turn a blind eye and deaf ear?

Our issue with abortion is eerily similar to what is now being realized about all the deaths at the hands of the Nazis. Simply put: there’s more than anyone could have guessed. Can we not learn from past mistakes? Does no one see the parallels? Almost 70 years later new light is still being shed on the Holocaust. Will the day come when truth about abortion finally comes to light? I believe it’s worse than we thought. A lot worse.

Today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Obama administration released an updated version of the regulation, and it has immediately been met with sharp opposition from pro-life and religious groups. It appears that the revised version continues to violate religious freedom through its controversial “contraception mandate.”

The added mandate to the health care law requires health insurance plans to include abortifacient drugs, sterilizations and contraceptives. The new “expansion” of exemptions is being criticized for merely extending narrow definitions of religious organizations who may or may not be eligible. The revision still does nothing to protect employers of conscience of a non-religious nature. Challengers contend that this is a dramatic infringement on the exercise of religious freedom.

In a statement, Anna Higgins, J.D., director of FRC’s Center for Human Dignity, said:

The proposal does not expand religious freedom to all organizations and does nothing to change the current policy that forces religious entities to pay for insurance plans that include abortion-inducing drugs, sterilizations and contraception. The mandate continues to force religious non-profit institutions as well as companies guided by a well-articulated and longtime moral code, such as Hobby Lobby, to violate their faith, threatening serious fines in the millions of dollars if they refuse to comply.

These newest revisions are being considered an unacceptable “compromise.” Some are saying it is an attempt to divide and conquer the faith community. Since the beginning of the debate over ObamaCare, there has been a persistent effort to try to get people of faith and conscience to agree to a “shell game” of personal guilt when it comes to abortion. This has been met with a resounding, “NO!” For most the issue of walking out faith is not a matter of mathematical tricks and loop holes. It could be far more damaging for a narrow segment of religious non-profits to acquiesce for personal immunity while fellow believers are abandoned to the whims of the federal government.

I have been in Washington, DC for nearly eight years, and I have seen January 22nd come and go numerous times. It is the anniversary of Roe v Wade, and each year I have grown more and more grieved over the great loss that it represents. What makes this one far more significant than all the others is that today marks exactly 40 years since the Supreme Court released the infamous decision that codified a culture of death. It sealed the deal to fundamentally shift the nation at the federal level, and for 40 years it has enjoyed the status of settled law. To many it is revered like an idol.

There needs to be a fresh baptism of confidence for everyone praying and laboring for the ending of abortion. Without it the next steps forward may be too difficult to take. The Apostle Paul cautioned Timothy to lay hold of his prophetic promises as he fought through times of discouragement and doubt. The result would be faith that is strengthened in adversity and a conscience that is clear. Standing on truth, the prophetic promises become weapons in our hands as we cling to them with white knuckles. Their declaration into the atmosphere and utterance in prayer infuse the Lord’s will for the alternative future into what Walter Wink describes as the “suffocating atmosphere of the present.”

Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a good conscience. (1 Timothy 1:18-19)

For the past 21 days I have been intently seeking the Lord in a special way contending for the ending of abortion and firm footing for the future. The prophet Daniel saw the spiritual reality of breakthrough come after 21 days of fasting and prayer (Daniel 10). For these 21 days I coupled fasting along with a night watch of prayer (midnight to 3AM) that I felt the Lord specifically called me into. I did this in private along with a few staff from the Justice House of Prayer DC and Bound4LIFE as well as a couple of close friends.

A few really encouraging things happened during these 21 days. One of the most significant things came in the form of a news story out of Mississippi. Last year state legislators passed a law requiring abortion physicians to have hospital admitting privileges. None of the doctors working in the state’s sole abortion center did. A deadline was set for them to comply, and on January 11 they failed to meet the new standard. Abortion center administrator Diane Derzis said every Jackson-area hospital where they applied for privileges said, “No.” Mississippi is now on track to become the first abortion-free state.

Deadlines

As I read about the Mississippi story and held it before the Lord over the next couple of nights the part about the missed “deadline” began to explode in my spirit and prayers. A time limit had been set, and abortion was surrounded on every side by a group saying, “NO!”

I felt the Lord declaring to me that he has a time table. There are moments when God’s deadlines become our reality. President Lincoln understood this when he described slavery to the nation as “having continued through His (God’s) appointed time” and that “He (God) now wills to remove” it. My posture during these 21 days has been to appeal to heaven’s court for a verdict on abortion in favor of the saints. Even when little foreseeable opportunity exists to the naked eye, I believe God has initiated spiritual momentum to release his justice. Let me explain.

Deceptive Weights

For 40 years Roe v Wade has persisted as the law of the land. On the 12th night of my night watch I was taken into a prolonged encounter with the Lord for about an hour. He showed me scales with inaccurate and deceptive weights being used as measurement. At first I wasn’t really sure what I was seeing and experiencing, but it became more and more clear as the Lord allowed me to touch his heart on the matter. I can only describe it by mentioning the intense emotions he expressed to me over the use of the dishonest weights and his intention to act because of them. Ponder these scriptures with me.

Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight. (Proverbs 11:1 NKJV)

Do not have two differing weights in your bag—one heavy, one light. Do not have two differing measures in your house—one large, one small. You must have accurate and honest weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. For the Lord your God detests anyone who does these things, anyone who deals dishonestly. (Deuteronomy 25:13-16 NIV)

Shall I acquit a man with dishonest scales, with a bag of false weights? (Micah 6:11 NIV)

God uses the strongest language to describe how he feels about deceptive and dishonest weights calling them an abomination. He also links their use directly to the inability to remain the land. These are sobering words.

At about 3 AM I felt the Lord speak to me that we have been using deceptive and dishonest weights in our scales so that we cannot accurately weigh the value of human life. This statement was profound to me because it was coupled with such intense emotion from the Lord, and it impacted my heart. The use of these deceptive weights has affected nearly everything in our culture. We have allowed it in our courts, in our politics, and in our own homes. Turning a blind eye and deaf ear to abortion has allowed an ever-increasing manipulation of the scales of our collective national conscience. We’ve called it moral decay, but I think it’s more about the deception that we’ve allowed to enter in and grow like a cancer out of control. In these scales, everything is distorted and unjust. Roe v Wade isn’t a political talking point; it’s an entry point of an abomination in America.

The Message Confirmed

A few nights later a startling dream from outside our night watch group was given to us. It brought an overwhelming confirmation to the message. A young woman named Rachel dreamt that she looked at her life band and it had a timer on it. The clock was ticking down as if time was almost over. When we contacted her to ask about it, we were shocked to discover that she had received the dream the same night as my encounter during the night watch. It’s no coincidence that the young woman’s name is Rachel. It’s Matthew 2:18, “Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”

This is an extraordinary confirmation to say the least. The life band represents a commitment to pray for abortion to end and revival to come. I believe God is declaring that we are now in a countdown to that reality.

Synchronize

I began to pray into these matters with a renewed zeal and urgency. As I was praying the other night and heard myself speaking, the unique language of the dream suddenly dawned on me. This is our “watch.” The life band was a strategy that was divinely initiated by God, and this is the Lord’s watch given to us to keep. I was suddenly gripped with a burden to pray that God would “synchronize our watches” with his divine countdown. There is a deadline for abortion, and 40 years are up! I felt like something shifted in the spirit as I prayed in the middle of the night, “Lord, right now, synchronize the watch of everyone who is wearing a life band. Reveal your deadlines, and get us on your time table.” That’s when God’s kairos moment converges with the chronos moment—when his divine purposes break into the otherwise monotonous timeline as we watch the days and years go by.

At our staff meeting last week one of our leaders who had not been a part of the night watch said that the Lord had really been highlighting Daniel 5 as being very important. We looked at it together and were stunned by the storyline of the hand writing on the wall of King Belshazzar. The verdict was in, and the finger of God carved the words, “Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin,” in the wall. Daniel’s translation revealed, “God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end,” and, “You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.” It was deadlines and weighing scales. Time was up, and Belshazzar’s reign ended that very night. Could it be that God’s verdict is in on abortion, and his deadline has been set to bring it’s deadly reign to an end?

Let us recommit ourselves at this 40-year mark with a willingness and determination to cross over into God’s prophetic promises. I know I have my own promises that I’m laying hold of with a fierce grip. You have your’s as well, and they are weapons in your hands. Together, let’s ask God to synchronize our watches with his divine deadline. Let’s declare with increased faith that 40 years of Roe v Wade may look like a mile stone, but it’s actually the end of the line. We will no longer tolerate the enemy’s tampering with the weights that has robbed us of a right measure of human value. We need God to reset our standards and purge us of the deceptive weights. Proverbs 16:11 says, “Honest scales and balances are from the Lord; all the weights in the bag are of his making.” I am looking for revival and great awakening to visit this nation like never before. The kairos clock is ticking.

Wasting no time, Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) introduced the “Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act” which would stop the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from providing federal family planning assistance under Title X to abortion businesses until they certify they won’t provide and refer for abortions. This bill is similar to previous legislation introduced in the 112th Congress by former representative Mike Pence who has since gone on to become Governor-elect of Indiana.

“Congressman Pence has been a champion in the fight to protect innocent human life and I hope to continue his leadership in the House,” Blackburn said. “As a woman, I believe America deserves better than abortion. America shouldn’t celebrate abortion and our taxpayers shouldn’t subsidize abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood, who profit from the destruction of human life with taxpayer money. It’s fiscally irresponsible and morally indefensible.”

Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion advocates have taken to the social media airwaves griping about the introduction of the bill, but their factiousness belies a genuine fear. They say, “2013 is starting to look a lot like 2011.” By that they are referring to this shocking little graph:

In 2011, the greatest number of pro-life laws we’re passed, and 2012 brought the second greatest number. Make no mistake–the abortion industry and her allies are reeling on their heels in spite of the passage of ObamaCare and the re-election of the most pro-abortion President ever. Notice in the graph that recent election years typically see a decrease in pro-life legislation (presumably to avoid controversy), but not so in 2010. The number actually went up in that election year showing wildly positive gains since 2008. The bottom line is that the pro-life movement isn’t going to quit until it wins. That’s the sort of reality that led to this most recent cover article of Time magazine.

Take this post and share it with as many people as possible. Take it upon yourself to mobilize prayer for pro-life legislation. Let’s agree together in prayer and press in for even more pro-life laws in the 113th Congress as well as throughout the state legislatures. Investigate and cover in prayer your elected officials who potentially may introduce new legislation like Blackburn. The pressure and opposition is great, but I believe God is raising up prophetic voices in Congress and the states to do just that.

From Congressman Blackburn’s press release:

Congressman Blackburn is Vice Chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees Title X of the Public Health Service Act. In 2010, a GAO report showed that America’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, received over $340 million from the Title X family planning program.

On Wednesday Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor denied a request by Christian-owned company Hobby Lobby to block implementation of the government-mandated health plan coverage of the Morning After Pill and emergency contraception. Sotomayor said that they had not satisfied the legal standard for the emergency block. Hobby Lobby had been seeking an emergency block of the rule until their legal challenges could play out in the courts. Their challenge to the contraception mandates is based on their belief that it violates the religious convictions of the owners.

The challenge escalated to the Supreme Court this week after the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the company did not prove that the contraception mandate would “substantially burden” its religious freedom. They noted that Hobby Lobby is not a religious group and not entitled to exemptions recently extended to religious organizations like churches.

Hobby Lobby and their sister company are now facing fines beginning January 1st that add up to about $1.3 million a day. Company leaders say that after yesterday’s ruling they are now faced with being forced to violate their faith or face the exorbitant fines imposed by the government for not complying with the rule.

Hobby Lobby is reported to have more than 13,000 full-time employees and more than 500 stores nation-wide.

This post is primarily an update to the legal challenges currently at work in the courts, but some readers may be wondering what Hobby Lobby’s challenge is really about. I usually feel compelled to address this because there is so much confusion in the church about birth control. When the contraceptive mandate was added by the President at the urging of Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion advocates, it immediately called into question, “Which forms of birth control can cause abortions?” Vice President Biden reportedly cautioned the President that this new rule would be viewed as an attack on religious freedom, and he was right.

What about abortion-inducing contraception? News organizations are universally reporting that the Morning After Pill, one of the most common being Plan B, does not cause abortions. In fact, the product label states that Plan B is ineffective on existing pregnancies. Religious challenges to these types of contraceptives are based on the belief that life begins at conception–not just at implantation of the fertilized egg in the uterus. Below is the actual label from the Plan B product. If your conviction is that life begins at conception, these words offer little comfort. Thus, lawsuits.
