The House debated last night over Mike Pence’s amendment to defund Planned Parenthood of about $330 million through the end of September. The chamber was silent as Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) held the floor for a few minutes. In her brief speech, she revealed having had an abortion in what seemed to be an impromptu moment.

Protect Life Act (HR 358) Advances Out of Committee
Continue Reading »H.R. 358, the Protect Life Act, has advanced out of the Energy and Commerce Committee. The Rep. Joe Pitts-authored bill is essentially the same as the Stupak-Pitts amendment approved by the Democrat-controlled House last year during the health care reform debate. That amendment was dropped in the Senate. The bill, in part, seeks to codify language issued by President Obama’s Executive Order stating that taxpayer funds cannot be used to pay for abortions. Executive Orders, however, do not carry the weight of law.

Sebelius On The Hot Seat
Continue Reading »On Thursday Rep. Cliff Stearns (FL) announced, "We’re going to bring Health and Human Services Secretary Sebelius, put her under oath in the spring and ask her to explain what is she doing about these videos." He is referring, of course, to the Live Action undercover videos that have been release in recent weeks that potentially expose illegal activity within Planned Parenthood.
Stearns issued a warning saying he’d ask the Department of Justice to investigate Sebelius if she refuses to answer questions before the Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, which he heads. He also added,"We’re not going to wait for Attorney General [Eric] Holder to do anything. And if she lies, then we’re going to ask the attorney general to investigate her."

More than half of abortions in the U.S. are from women in their 20′s.
I am burdened for the young women of our nation. My heart hurts for the young, 20-year old, second generation Mexican-American woman facing her second pregnancy while working full time and trying to go to college. She is the face of abortion in this country; her and young minority women like her.
I may be off, but I am sure that these young minority girls don’t get much out of most news debates over abortion. After all, what does a white man in his late 50’s know about what she is going through? How can an older, finely dressed lady wearing a strand of pearls with matching earrings say that she "represents" this young women’s right to choose? I’m just saying. And now, with statistics confirming that this generation is pro-life, honestly these liberal feminist women feel like intruders to me and my girl-friends.

Continue Reading »Yesterday, the House voted 245 to 189 for an all-out repeal of the Health Care bill that was passed and signed into law last March. This was obviously a symbolic gesture at this point in light of the Democrat-controlled Senate, but it marked a decided turn in the legislature that delivers on the elections of November. The attention now turns to dicing up the existing bill.
What’s the first order of business for this Congress after the all-out repeal vote yesterday? ABORTION is the order of the day as H.R. 3 is introduced today- the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act."
