Betrayed: to deliver or expose to an enemy by treachery or disloyalty: to be unfaithful in guarding, maintaining or fulfilling: to betray a trust; to disappoint the hopes or expectations of; be disloyal to: to betray one’s friends. The definition of the word betrayed is one of the first things you see when you enter the website, abortioninthehood.com. The site and accompanying billboards are being produced by the Restoration Project, directed by African -American activist Catherine Davis. Davis was one of the people behind a series of controversial billboards that went up in Atlanta last year declaring “Black Children are an endangered species.” She is also a member of the National Black Pro-life Coalition.

Davis is a fighter, and she packs a punch with her latest billboard. The message behind it calls attention to the way black leaders have “betrayed” African- American’s by refusing to take action concerning the drastic numbers of abortions in the black community. The website shows a picture of the Rev. Jesse Jackson and records his words from a 1977 National Right to Life op-ed. In the article Jackson stated “What happens to the mind of a person, and the moral fabric of a nation, that accepts the aborting of the life of a baby without a pang of conscience? What kind of a person, and what kind of a society will we have 20 years hence if life can be taken so casually?

Below that quote is another which Jackson gave to New York Magazine in 1984. He was running for president at the time and changed his opinion on abortion, “As a matter of law, women must have freedom to choice, just as others have freedom of sex preference. Women have the legal right to choose what they would do with their bodies”.

Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, NAACP leader Ben Jealous, and celebrity host Whoopi Goldberg are among many who have hurt the black community by their support of abortion. A powerful video by the National Black Pro-life Coalition highlights the overwhelming number of abortions in black America and lists the names of the black leaders who refuse to take a stand against this genocide.

Comedian Chris Rock summarized the sad state we’re in during one of his comedy acts “When a woman gets pregnant, it's an issue between her and her girlfriends. When a woman gets pregnant, her and her girlfriends form an abortion tribunal, and they vote on the child like it was Survivor. Then the first girlfriend throws in her two cents: "Child, you should have that baby, that man got some good hair, it's wavy, it's wavy." Then second girlfriend throws in her two cents: "Girl, why are we even talking about this? Ain't we supposed to go to Cancun next weekend? Get rid of that baby." And that's how life is decided in America.

Have mercy on the black community. Raise up righteous leaders who will protect the lives of the unborn.
