In yet another major victory in an emerging culture of pro-life laws in the United States, a federal appeals court in New Orleans has ruled that district judge, Sam Sparks, was wrong when he ruled against the Texas sonogram law and said that “forcing pregnant women to receive medical treatment from less-skilled providers certainly seems to be at odds with ‘protecting the physical and psychological health and well-being of pregnant women.’”
Today a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the judge was incorrect in his ruling and Texas’ new sonogram law, pushed through as “emergency legislation” by pro-life Governor Rick Perry last year, is constitutional and may be enforced. The Houston Chronicle reports:
