An 88 year old woman who collects garbage for a living in China has been saving babies from infanticide since 1972. Only one year after she began saving babies, America bought the lie that legalized abortion would make it safe and lower the maternal mortality rate. Because we bought that lie, many Gosnells and Karpens flourish in unsafe, detrimental killing practices that go unnoticed for years. Pro-abortion advocates claim that the laws and regulations which actually do ensure safety only make it more difficult for women to get their abortions. Some call inspections designed to keep facilities clean “barriers” that will keep women from practicing their right to abort their babies. Many ridiculously complain that requiring hospital admitting privileges for abortion centers is just a pro-life ploy to keep women from killing babies, while at the same time claiming to be “health centers” that promote the health of women.

In China, Lou Xiaoying has saved over thirty abandoned babies on the streets. The reason babies are abandoned so often there is because of their strict one-child laws.

“The whole thing started when I found the first baby, a little girl back in 1972 when I was out collecting rubbish. She was just lying amongst the junk on the street, abandoned. She would have died had we not rescued her and taken her in.”

Wasn’t the one infanticide charge of which Gosnell was not convicted an instance where the baby was thrown in the garbage? Aren’t babies taken out like garbage every day in America?

According to this article, last week there was news of a baby found having her throat cut and then put in a plastic bag and thrown in a dustbin at Anshan city, in northeast China’s Liaoning province.

Does that sound familiar too?

Former employees of Karpen recently admitted that they saw and participated in killing babies born alive by twisting their heads and throwing them in plastic bags to ensure they suffocate.

Desperate families in China kill their babies or discard them on the streets because of the fearful law under which they live. Yet even with the strict laws they have, heroes remain who want to save the babies, even on garbage collector income! The baby in the plastic bag in China was rescued and was allowed to live. The baby found in a plastic bag in America died and was assigned a letter.

Where are the heroes in America? The ones who will have pity on the brutally murdered, abused babies?

We have infinitely more resources than this garbage collector in China. Even in ambitious corporate, capitalistic, America, we are superbly more child-friendly than in China. We have more resources, and more opportunities, and spend more in a day than this woman makes in weeks, yet we fight for the right to be cruel or stand by knowing the evil that takes place here?

The difference is, our garbage dumps are legal, unregulated, cruel abortion facilities, and thankfully, most of us do not make a living collecting that garbage. Since we cannot go rescue the babies in trash bags dying to live from the hands of their hired murderers, and we are aware of the evil that persists behind semi-closed doors, there is something we can do.

Everyone of these murders in America are witnessed by someone. There is usually at least one employee who sees and hears what evil occurs.

Please commit with me to pray for the employees at the abortion centers near you to become American heroes like Xiaoying is in China. Please pray with me that God will turn the hearts of abortion center employees to Him and to life. Pray with me that the workers at the specific center near you will suddenly experience compassion for the children and have courage to leave that job and report any illegal or unsafe activity. Pray also for employees at hospitals near you are aware of infanticide laws and report anything that appears to oppose the safety of babies born alive. Let’s also pray for God’s favor, provision, and protection for the ones who leave the abortion industry and report misconduct.

If you want to build your faith and be encouraged that God does change hearts, please read these two American hero tales.

This is part 2 of a series. For more information, view part 1. A Link to Part 3 will be added as it is published.

In January of this year, I felt that the Lord showed me two distinct things. These were described in great detail in my Roe v. Wade 40th anniversary post “Divine deadline.” One was that God was setting His deadlines for abortion. The other had to do with dishonest or inaccurate scales. The past three months have presented an extraordinary series of state-level legislative efforts that have left the pro-abortion lobby reeling back on its heels. I believe the deadlines are in fact now manifesting, and it gives me great faith that God is moving right now in answer to much prayer. I have been pondering more about the scales though.

Proverbs 11:1 says, “Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.” This theme is repeated several times throughout scripture. When the Lord highlighted this to me in January, I understood that in this case Roe v. Wade had tampered with our weights. These new false weights have made it so that we cannot accurately weigh the value of human life. Our scales are off, and subsequently more and more of our values are as well.

I think there is another dimension to the scales though, and it has to do with God’s scales—His justice. There is no question that the ugliest parts of the abortion industry are being exposed right now in increasing measure. The debate in the last few years has centered on birth control and so-called women’s health. These are huge topics for sure, but something has emerged in the meantime. We as a nation are now revisiting late-term abortion and infanticide in spite of the fact that Congress passed the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act in 2002. We’re revisiting it because there appears to be an increasing number of examples where BAIPA isn’t preventing the abortion industry from murdering constitutionally protected Americans. While this is obviously an enormous legal question for the nation to grapple with, I believe God is using infanticide to pierce our hearts and speak to us about abortion as a whole. God is weighing our response.

The stories that came out of the Kermit Gosnell trial in Philadelphia were horrific. Recent undercover videos of abortionists Leroy Carhart and Cesare Santangelo are nauseating. Take a few minutes and read a May 8th in-depth National Review Online report of events surrounding abortion facilities in Florida: “Abortion’s Underside.” Think these heinous stories are unusual in an otherwise pleasant and safe abortion industry? Don’t be naive. THEY ARE NOT. News is now breaking of another “house of horrors” in Houston run by an abortionist named Douglas Karpen. This week Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst called for a full-scale investigation after three former employees came forward with horrifying testimonies and photographs.

In fact, on March 26, 2013 Planned Parenthood representative Alisa LaPolt Snow argued publicly FOR infanticide. Planned Parenthood argues for less and less regulatory efforts at every level in spite of the fact that Gosnell’s house of horrors happened because of, as the grand jury identified, a “regulatory collapse.” In Gosnell’s “anything-goes environment,” fewer regulations are not the answer. If you think about it, Planned Parenthood has to argue that way. Their severely flawed logic demands that they protect their murderous ideology at every level. That’s why I think Planned Parenthood has to own up to guys like Kermit Gosnell instead of acting like he’s an anomaly. Their efforts to decry him after the guilty verdict are a feeble attempt at damage control. In fact, every person calling themselves “pro-choice” must own up to Kermit Gosnell. Certainly, President Obama must own up to him given the fact that as an Illinois Senator he voted in support of infanticide.

Don’t like that idea? Good. It should be disturbing. I think God is dragging out of it’s horrid den the most vile form of the pro-choice movement. He is laying it before America and asking, “What do you think?” I’ll go a step further and say that God is dragging this thing out specifically in front of the church and asking, “IS THIS SIN?” I shutter when I hear main stream media commentators like Marc Lamont Hill admit, “I do think that those of us on the left have made a decision not to cover this trial [Gosnell] because we worry that it’ll compromise abortion rights.” (source) Political and ideological allegiances surface in moments like this kicking truth, law, health and integrity into the ditch. Will we look away? Will we consciously ignore it? Will the church ignore it? I think God is looking for a definitive response right now. Can I even say that He is demanding a response? What we do next is of huge importance, and I believe heaven is watching closely. In the last post, I closed with the words of revivalist Charles Finney, and I’ll continue that here. In his lecture “Hindrances to Revivals,” Finney discussed the church’s divine responsibility to respond to the slavery question. The same words hold true for us today regarding abortion and revival.

It is impossible that their [the church’s] testimony should not be given, on one side or the other. Their silence can no longer be accounted for upon the principle of ignorance, and that they have never had their attention turned to the subject. Consequently, the silence of Christians upon the subject is virtually saying that they do not consider slavery as a sin. The truth is, it is a subject upon which they cannot be silent without guilt. The time has come, in the providence of God, when every southern breeze is loaded down with the cries of lamentation, mourning and wo. Two millions of degraded heathen in our own land stretch their hands, all shackled and bleeding, and send forth to the church of God the agonizing cry for help. And shall the church, in her efforts to reclaim and save the world, deafen her ears to this voice of agony and despair? God forbid. The church cannot turn away from this question. It is a question for the church and for the nation to decide, and God will push it to a decision. (emphasis added)

I was tuned in to live news of the trial results. It felt like a huge victory to hear the verdict rendered. Guilty of three counts of murder in the first degree concerning the babies who died at his hands. Since the news was announced I have heard several reports. It seems like everyone in the pro-life community is talking about it.

I am wildly encouraged that a pro-choice jury saw the bloody business of abortion and deemed a man guilty of murdering babies even though that is exactly what their mothers hired him to do. Surprisingly, even multi-million dollar abortion giant Planned Parenthood agreed that it was a good verdict.

As I heard a reporter say that only two choices remain for Kermit Gosnell, the death penalty or life in prison, I was instantly overwhelmed with an array of emotion. I realized in that moment that His fate was the same as every baby conceived in a nation that allows abortion. Before the jury were two choices, death and life. Every baby in America has a jury in deliberation. Asking questions about the mother’s health, maturity, wealth, presence of the father. The media, culture, parents, partners, friends, even churches can play a significant role in rendering a verdict on a baby’s fate.

It’s already been revealed that Gosnell has forfeited his ability to appeal the verdict and made an appeal that has caused the death penalty to come off the table. We know he now faces life in prison. But what if Kermit Gosnell was in the womb today and the jury represented the influences surrounding his mother in choosing life or abortion? Of course his womb is prison which surrounds him on all sides, and unlike a precious baby, he is guilty. Who knows if he will ever repent or change no matter how long he is in prison. Despite the grim circumstance that surrounding him, I hope that if I were a juror, I would choose life–even for him. Even now, I am choosing to pray that the life that is in Jesus will be made manifest to Gosnell, and I am still praying for the jury. I am praying that their hearts heal from the gruesome truth they saw. I am praying that each of them experienced conversion, at least to know the ugly truth of abortion, and be willing to choose life. Please pray with me that this experience will open a door for God to speak to each of them regarding their own eternal fate, and that each of them will choose life through Jesus.

I am hearing so many say that he deserves death. I agree. So did I before the Savior found me. I understand that punishing him with death feels like we are killing the entire gruesome abortion industry, but the truth of the matter is that death can only be defeated by life. I know it is a difficult choice to make in our hearts, to be truly pro-life even when the life is not innocent.

Please pray with me that everyone in the pro-life community clings to choosing life no matter what and that we are all reminded that to be pro-life is to be merciful. We cannot separate mercy from our plight for life, because mercy is like the womb that surrounds and cherishes the life for which we are fighting.

I am thankful that Kermit Gosnell was found guilty. A guilty verdict proves to America that abortion is murder. In my opinion, the death penalty is murder too. I understand that the wages of sin is death, but I believe that Jesus paid those wages, and if we choose life for every human while he has time to repent, we are choosing to believe that the Lamb will receive the reward of His suffering. It would be so encouraging for America if pro-choice jurors can not only see that abortion is murder, but also choose life.

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19

The “it’s my body” mantra has been argued by promoters of the death industry since the advent of legalized abortion in America. The truth is that when a woman becomes pregnant, a separate being is formed and two bodies exist now where there was only one, and both should be involved in the discussion. Obvious scientific fact aside, this phrase did not originate with the pro-abortion culture of death and they tragically misuse it.

Luke 22:19 And He (Jesus) took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave unto them, saying, This is My body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of Me.

Promoters of death actually steal this line from the Creator of life, Jesus Christ Himself. Out of love He willingly gave His body for His children who were not even born yet. Jesus so loved us that He considered even suffering on the cross a joy because of the reward it would produce. The reward His suffering produced is reconciliation with His children; reconciliation with us.

We live in a land who’s primary value seems to be avoiding suffering at all cost, even if the cost is murder. Thankfully there is a depth of life and a true reality far greater than the meager imitation that engulfs this culture. There is a truth and a love that is shed abroad in our hearts by faith to which we must cling.

Suffering produces joy and Jesus Himself honors the suffering that a mother endures.

Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy. A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. John 16:20-23

Jesus compares suffering of persecution to the suffering of a woman who is expecting. He understands that it is difficult and that it involves pain, but He also knows the great reward that is produced. He promises joy and answered prayers with full term pregnancy.

Any joy or relief that comes from avoiding suffering though abortion is temporary.

Ask one of the mothers of aborted babies who now fight for the ending of abortion. Eventually the weight of guilt will fall and the wages of the tragic death of an innocent child will be demanded.

In contrast, the joy of choosing Jesus, of choosing life is eternal and not based on fleeting circumstantial pleasure, even if temporary suffering is involved. The joy outweighs the pain.

The love of a mother is a force so powerful it is stronger than extreme suffering– it is stronger than death. This love does not disappear when a baby is aborted, it only then turns into anguish. The anguish of this loss can only be healed by the cleansing forgiveness of Jesus, promised the second you turn from your devastating choice to Him wholeheartedly. He will restore your love for your children and for yourself, and heal your heart.

Please pray with me that God will completely heal and restore the mothers that you know who have aborted their children. Please pray that God will open their hearts to receive His redeeming love, forgiveness, and strength to forgive and love themselves again like He does. Please pray that they will have opportunities and overwhelming compassion to encourage scared, expecting mothers to choose life.

Kermit Gosnell Found Guilty on Three First-Degree Murder Charges

by Steven Ertelt

The jury in the murder trial of abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell returned a verdict and found him guilty on three of the four first-degree murder charges he faced.

The guilty verdict on these three counts subjects the abortion “doctor” to the potential he will face the death penalty when a second jury considers his sentencing on the convictions.

Gosnell is charged with four counts of first-degree murder for killing babies following delivery in an abortion process that involved “snipping” their necks and spinal cords. He also faces a third-degree murder charge related to the death of a woman, Karnamaya Mongar, 41, of Virginia, from a botched legal abortion. Gosnell, who has been in jail since his January 2011 arrest.

The abortionist faces 258 counts total and other charges against him include one count of infanticide and one of racketeering, 24 counts of performing third-trimester abortions and 227 counts of failing to follow the 24-hour waiting period law before an abortion so women can consider its risks and alternatives.

Last week, the wanted to re-hear testimony from Adrienne Moton, a medical assistant who told the court in March that she snipped the spines of at least 10 babies during unorthodox abortions. And she said Dr. Kermit Gosnell and another employee did the same sipping technique.

Moton, the first employee to testify, sobbed as she recalled taking a cellphone photograph of one baby left in her work area. She thought he could have survived, given his size and pinkish color. She had measured him at nearly 30 weeks.

“The aunt felt it was just best for her (the mother’s) future,” Moton testified.

Gosnell later joked that the baby was so big he could have walked to the bus stop, she said.

Jurors saw Moton’s photograph on a large screen in the courtroom, which took on a bizarre look Tuesday as she testified near a hospital bed with stirrups and other aging obstetric equipment. Denied the chance to bring jurors to the shuttered inner-city clinic, prosecutors are instead recreating a patient room in court.

Moton, 35, sobbed as she described her work at the clinic. Because of problems at home, she had moved in with Gosnell and his third wife during high school, and she went to work for him from 2005 to 2008. She earned about $10 an hour, off the books, to administer drugs, perform sonograms, help with abortions and dispose of fetal remains. Workers got $20 bonuses for second-term abortions on Saturdays, when a half-dozen were sometimes performed.

She once had to kill a baby delivered in a toilet, cutting its neck with scissors, she said. Asked if she knew that was wrong, she said, “At first I didn’t.”

If sentenced for the convictions, Gosnell could face the death penalty following the convictions by the jury in Common Pleas Court in Philadelphia.

Under Pennsylvania law, all 12 of the jurors must reach a unanimous verdict on any of the murder counts Gosnell faces for him to be convicted on any of them. Each of the elements of a charged crime must be proven to each juror beyond reasonable doubt for that juror to vote to convict on that count and one reluctant juror could lead to a mistrial on any of the first-degree murder charges.

Since prosecutors are pursuing the death penalty in the case, the jury will only be deciding whether Gosnell is guilty related to the charges. If convicted, a second jury will be impaneled to determine sentencing under the penalty phase of the trial. During this phase, the judge has already instructed jurors to only consider guilt or innocence.

Given the number of charges Gosnell faces, and the fact that Gosnell has a co-defendant the jury is considering for conviction as well, the jury make take a longer period of time to arrive at a verdict on each of the 250-plus charges.

Most of the focus in the murder trial of abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell is on the murder charges he faces for killing babies in abortion-infanticides and for killing a woman in a botched abortion.

But Gosnell faces more than 200 charges related to violating Pennsylvania state law that requires him to provide women with informed consent 24 hours prior to the abortion. Gosnell is charged with breaking that law by not giving women information about abortion risks and alternatives 24 hours prior to the abortion.

Eight other defendants who are former staffers of Gosnell’s Philadelphia abortion clinic have pleaded guilty to a variety of charges and are awaiting sentencing.

Previously, the judge in the case reinstated one of the murder charges and dropped another. Gosnell’s defense attorney asked the judge to drop three of the charges for killing the babies and the judge agreed with the contention there was not enough evidence to convict Gosnell on those charges. Another charge of infanticide was also dropped.

One of the dropped charges involved a 28-week-old baby Gosnell killed and whose remains were kept in an abortion clinic freezer.

Common pleas court Judge Jeffrey Minehart also dropped five counts of corpse abuse at the request of his defense attorney and did not explain his ruling dropping any of the charges.

The defense had argued that there were no live births at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Center abortion clinic and contends the babies died during abortions and their necks were snipped afterwards. But former Gosnell staffers testified they saw signs of life even after the abortion had been completed — saying the babies “jumped” and “screamed” and tried to escape.

Gosnell, whose squalid “house of horrors” abortion clinic has surprised even investigative officials, has had almost flippant attitude toward his macabre abortion practices shocked the nation.

“The Gosnell case is a watershed moment for the issue of abortion,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and Pro-Life Nation. “The discovery of his horrific practices helped shed light on an abortion industry that has run amok without oversight or accountability for decades, and has prompted significant changes in abortion laws and attitudes toward enforcement in several states.”

Previously, Gosnell’s wife Pearl pleaded guilty to assisting her husband at his Philadelphia abortion center where he killed a woman in a botched abortion and has killed hundreds of babies in abortion-infanticides. Pearl Gosnell was considering a plea deal similar to the one several of Gosnell’s former abortion center employees have made where they have pleaded guilty to receive a lesser sentence in exchange for testifying against Gosnell.

Pearl also worked at the abortion center Gosnell ran that had him kill and injure women in failed abortions and kill perhaps hundreds of babies in grisly infanticides by birthing them and “snipping” their spinal cords. She worked at the Women’s Medical Society abortion business her husband ran as a full-time medical assistant from 1982 until she married Kermit Gosnell in 1990, when she switched to only working on Sundays.

At that time, the abortion business was officially closed but would do its latest-term abortions possible. The grand jury report indicates Pearl Gosnell testified that she alone helped Kermit do abortions on Sundays when she would “help do the instruments” in the operating room despite no medical training.

The murder charges also came in connection with the botched abortion death of 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar, who died at Gosnell’s abortion clinic after a failed abortion. Mongar died November 20, 2009, after overdosing on anesthetics prescribed by the doctor.

Mongar’s family filed a lawsuit against Gosnell’s abortion business seeking damages. Gosnell and several staffers at his abortion center, including Pearl, were arrested in January after a grand jury indicted them on multiple charges after officials raided his abortion business following a woman’s death and discovered a “house of horrors” filled with bags of bodies and body parts of deceased unborn children and babies killed in infanticides.

Meanwhile, women have spoken out about their treatment and one woman says she was drugged and tied up and forced to have an abortion. Authorities searching the facility found bags and bottles holding aborted babies scattered around the building, jars containing babies’ severed feet lining a shelf, as well as filthy, unsanitary furniture and equipment.

The grand jury investigation also shows state officials did nothing when reports came in about problems at Gosnell’s abortion center, which has upset incoming pro-life Governor Tom Corbett.

Gosnell’s abortion center was inspected only after a federal drug raid in 2010. It was the first time the facility had been inspected in 17 years because state officials ignored complaints and failed to visit Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society for years.

The abortion industry has been forced to suspend two abortion businesses that employed embattled abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell, who has been the subject of national controversy over his abortion business in Philadelphia.

My husband Matt and I were over for dinner at our friends’ house a few weeks ago and the topic of shopping at Publix with her children came up.

“Did you know that Publix gives each child that asks a free cookie from the bakery, a free chicken strip from the deli, and a free balloon?”

No I did not know that. I thought that was only when I was a little girl. Where I grew up, the Jitney Jungle would give us a free sugar cookie whenever my mom allowed it. I saw the look on the bakery lady’s face and I knew she loved giving them out to us as much as we loved receiving them. Then, a thought popped in my mind.

Is Publix pro-life? It was a quick stream of thought as I wondered who the CEO’s of Publix were and whether they realized that the culture they created in their grocery store was pro-children, pro-families, and pro-moms. Whether they are aware or not, they are nurturing a culture of Life.

Then, it was this past Monday that I happened to stumble upon this video. It’s Publix’s 2013 Mother’s Day commercial. You can watch it below.

I cried after I watched the little girl whisper into her mommy’s pregnant tummy to tell her baby sister her secret: “You’re really going to love Mom.” There is something about a child speaking life over her mom and her unborn sister that releases hope. There is something about the mom loving her 6-year-old little girl and her unborn little girl in her tummy that releases a breath of fresh air. They are pictures of life. It is almost unheard of on television to see such a beautiful message. The value of honoring and speaking life over moms is a powerful, influential and very necessary message. Moms are in such a war in this generation. Speaking and praying life over her womb is what can turn the lights back on. It’s our blessing them that can release their blessing.

As my week moved on I couldn’t help but notice and feel a great hope in my spirit as I saw the other Mother’s Day ads popping up out of nowhere. I don’t know if I simply haven’t noticed them before this year or if there really is something rousing in America to speak Life over our moms. I pray it is the later. I feel a swing in America toward the blessings as we have uncovered and endured so much horror this year. It is time to honor and bless our mommas. Let’s create and speak a culture of honor and life. Give blessings to release blessings. Enjoy the ads below. And if you are a mom or like me you really want to be a mom, I just want to tell you: Blessed are you who have desired life. You are so chosen for this.

Recently, LifeNews published an article to help answer the question of why the jury in the murder trial of abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell is taking so long.

Local Philadelphia reporter J.D. Mullane helped put this question in perspective with a startling image of all of the sheets of charges the jury has to contend with as it considers what crimes Gosnell is guilty of and whether he is innocent of any of the more than 250 charges.

This is part 1 of a series. Links to part 2 and part 3 will be included as they are published.

I try to be a student of history. More specifically, I am fascinated by the history of revival, and yet I long to see it for myself. My generation has no contemporary knowledge of what it looks like when revival begins to sweep through a city, region or nation. At least not in the West. The years have ticked by, and those with first-hand knowledge—the eye witnesses—have passed away. All that remains are their letters, notes, journals, and teachings. Selective and revisionist history-telling minimizes and even omits the moves of God from the national storyline. Without it we lose the context of moral and cultural reboots that have carried us into, through and beyond crisis.

I believe America’s response to abortion is being weighed right now in God’s scales. More accurately, the church’s response is being weighed. The current thrust of pro-life legislation in states like Virginia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas has brought the LIFE issue to the forefront yet again. For three consecutive years we have experienced a truly unprecedented advance in efforts to protect the lives of babies in the womb as well as their mothers. 2013 is the most encouraging year yet. At the same time the jury is still out on the Kermit Gosnell “house of horrors” case in Philadelphia (at the time of this writing). Late-term abortionist Leroy Carhart has just been exposed on video referring to a murdered baby in the womb as “meat in a crockpot.” Abortionist Cesare Santangelo has been exposed on video saying that if a baby were to be born alive in his facility after an attempted abortion he would NOT do what is legally required to save the life of the baby. There are many other examples. MANY!

It bears repeating again that these atrocities are not limited to individual doctors. Planned Parenthood representative Alisa LaPolt Snow in Florida recently argued before legislators (March 26, 2013) for infanticide in the event that a baby was born alive after a failed abortion. THIS IS INHUMAN. Also bear in mind that Leroy Carhart is continually hailed as a hero of the entire pro-abortion industry and was recently honored in the pro-abortion documentary “After Tiller.” So-called “pro-choice” Americans have to own up to these atrocious actions and murderous mindsets.

What does this have to do with revival? I believe these events are tied directly to whether or not revival will be hindered in the United States. Our response to them is key.

As a pro-life leader I’m prayerfully watching this play out right now. I rejoice at all the exposure taking place, and yet I also wonder who’s paying attention. Yes, the media admittedly is selectively not reporting on some of what’s happening. The Gosnell case has proven this. And yet the pro-life community has thrust it forward regardless via social media and public outcry demanding that the information be covered. Reluctantly, more and more detail has emerged. Light is being “thrown in upon the minds” of all Americans.

What does the church have to say right now about all this? Do we have anything to say about it? I’m not talking about the stalwart pro-life activists who continually blow the trumpet. I’m talking about the (approximately) 350,000 congregations in the United States. What do the overwhelming majority of Christians have to say about infanticide? Statistically this is a small percentage of the overwhelming number of abortions that are done legally in our nation, but it is without a doubt the most horrendous. Are our pulpits and fellowships discussing this and our need to act? I believe God is using infanticide right now to weigh our response. Will we ignore even this?

THEN, how does our answer to the infanticide question develop into a rational, logical and sound theological conclusion on abortion as a whole? We must answer this question now without any further delay.

I leave you with the words of Charles Finney, the central figure of the Second Great Awakening in America. These words are taken from a message titled “Hindrances to Revivals.” I hope to expound more on this in another post, but let me leave this with you relating it to what’s happening right now in the nation.

Revivals are hindered when ministers and churches take wrong ground in regard to any question involving human rights. Take the subject of SLAVERY, for instance. The time was when this subject was not before the public mind…So ministers and churches, to a great extent throughout the land, have held their peace, and borne no testimony against this abominable abomination, existing in the church and in the nation. But recently, the subject has come up for discussion, and the providence of God has brought it distinctly before the eyes of all men. Light is now shed upon this subject…Facts are exhibited, and principles established, and light thrown in upon the minds of men, and this monster is dragged from his horrid den, and exhibited before the church, and it is demanded of them, “IS THIS SIN?” Their testimony must be given on this subject. They are God’s witnesses.

Steven Ertelt for lifenews.com

The original bill passed the House with a bipartisan veto-proof majority of 115 to 39. The amended bill passed the Senate with a veto-proof majority of 23 to 7. Amendments to the bill require that the House vote to confirm the Senate amendments. The bill will then move to the Governor’s desk.

Pam Fichter, the president of Missouri Right to Life, commented on passage of the bill.

“This legislation bans web-cam abortions in Missouri and ensures that women will meet with a doctor in person at the time she begins the RU 486 abortion. This legislation protects women from those in the abortion industry who seek to profit from RU 486 abortions by providing sub-standard care to women,” she said.

“RU 486, the two-drug regimen, can cause severe bleeding and cramping. It can fail to abort the baby and can cause birth defects. Often these women deliver a dead baby by themselves. The drug can cause toxic shock and death. The FDA requires the notice of the possibility of death on the label of Mifeprex, the first pill taken,” stated Fichter.

Fichter said Missouri Right to Life thanks the sponsors of this bill, Representative Jeanie Riddle and Senator Wayne Wallingford, the House and Senate leadership and all those that voted for this important legislation.

The news comes as pro-life advocates are celebrating in another state. Because of a new pro-life law in Wisconsin that prohibits selling the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug via webcam and without an in-person consultation with a physician, Planned Parenthood will stop selling mifepristone.

With the drug having killed dozens of women worldwide and injured more than 2,200 alone in the United States, according to April 2011 FDA figures , pro-life groups have been concerned about Planned Parenthood putting women’s health at risk.

RU 486 and its companion drug are administered between the fifth and ninth weeks of pregnancy, after pregnancy has been confirmed and the process typically involves three trips to a doctor. About half of the women abort while at the doctor’s office, with another 26 percent having an abortion within the next 20 hours at any location at home or in public. The remainder either have an abortion in the coming weeks or none at all if the drug fails to work — making it so a surgical abortion is required.

Through April, the FDA reports 2,207 adverse events related to the use of RU 486, including 14 deaths, 612 hospitalizations, 58 ectopic pregnancies, 339 blood transfusions, and 256 cases of infections in the United States alone. A European drug manufacturer has publicly stated that 28 women have died worldwide after using RU 486/mifepristone.

I watched the recent LiveAction videos with a horrible sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. There’s nothing in this business that’s easy to hear, any way you look at it, it’s a barbaric procedure. But these interviews about babies at 23 and 24 weeks or later are horrifying on a personal level, and they need to be seen.

If you know my story, you know that I’ve given birth to 3 sons at 24 weeks gestation. I’ve looked at their miniature but perfect facial features, how they looked like us, and I’ve watched them calm to the sound of my voice, their elevated heartbeats literally slowing and stabilizing as I would speak softly. I’ve seen them sleep while my husband sang outside their incubators. I’ve watched dedicated medical professionals treat my tiny children with such gravitas and respect, giving them every chance to live and grow strong. I have felt the aching sweetness of their entire hands wrapped around my fingertip, and I know that touch brought them comfort and peace, because it brought me comfort and peace.

My son Richy at about 26 weeks

When I think of those sons, 1 who is 13 years old and with me today and 2 who spend their days in heaven, I cannot fathom the callousness of a Planned Parenthood employee telling a mother that if she happened to deliver her child prior to her abortion, to “flush it.” In another expose, a doctor explains that they simply would not help the baby survive. If the baby was born alive, they would not intubate, not intervene, despite the law- they would let him “expire”.

To argue that a child is invalid because they would need medical intervention to survive is unfounded. Who among us would doubt the humanity of a diabetic needing insulin to survive, a car accident victim needing medical services to prolong their lives? These small humans deserve protection, simply because they are human.

These reports in combination with the stories coming from the Gosnell trial are capturing the attention of the nation. Even people who would not identify themselves as pro-life are moved and sickened at the idea of infanticide and the growing realization that infanticide is an active part of the abortion industry. These stories are not standalone. In coming days and months, more and more of these illegal and inhumane practices are going to be brought to light. As they are exposed, employees and victims of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry will be emboldened to speak out, and lives will be saved.

Let’s pray that these stories continue to be revealed. Pray for Lila Rose and the LiveAction team as they break into the industry and expose these practices, and continue to pray with us for the ending of abortion.
