The second largest abortion facility in the world, next to China, is being built at this present moment in Houston, Texas. This six-story, 78,000 square foot Planned Parenthood abortion “Super Center” is right in the middle of four minority neighborhoods. Three of these neighborhoods have an average 85% Hispanic population and the fourth is 80% Black American. The third floor is being specially built as a ambulatory surgical center for the purpose of performing late-term abortions. Obviously, Planned Parenthood is targeting these minority communities and families to fuel their abortion industry like never before. The opening of this facility MUST NOT go unchallenged
A New Trend
In recent years, Planned Parenthood has aggressively shifted away from the small neighborhood-sized clinic approach in favor of consolidating into massive regional facilities. Currently there are seven locations that have become their focus for developing abortion “Super Centers.”
In 2007, it was exposed in national news that Planned Parenthood had been secretly building their first “Super Center” in Aurora, IL using fictitious business aliases to conceal their agenda. Everyone was shocked to learn that the new facility was 22,000 square feet. The second one opened the following year in Denver, CO also concealed behind deceptive business aliases. That one was 40,000 square feet. The third opened in Sarasota, FL in September of 2009 measuring in at 23,000 square feet.
The fourth “Super Center” in this tragic series is located in Houston, TX. Currently scheduled to open in the Fall of 2010, this massive 78,000 square foot abortion facility will be the second largest in the world–second only to China.
The Original Charter
Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, had a perverse dream for minorities. In her book Pivot of Civilization, Sanger referred to blacks, immigrants and indigents as “...human weeds,” “reckless breeders,” “spawning...human beings who never should have been born.” Sanger’s original charter and agenda has been cleverly concealed in the modern day, but Planned Parenthood’s intent remains clear. Minority families are being targeted both for their dire economic situations and the desire by Planned Parenthood to restrict their populations.
A young Hispanic woman in Texas recently visited a local Planned Parenthood and was asked to complete a questionnaire of age, race and income level.
“I was then told by the Planned Parenthood employee that based on the information they obtained by the questionnaire I was quote ‘a perfect candidate not to reproduce.’” The employee then added, “Do not worry. We will help you never have any children.”
This is appalling in every conceivable way. However, there is a voice rising out of Houston and out of Texas declaring, “God give us the life of the unborn. Restrain this abortion ‘Super Center’ from rising in the neighborhoods of our brothers and sisters! Raise up a compassionate response to the great need!”
Dangerous Demographics
Black women, who represent only 12% of the female population in America, suffer 36% of all abortions. Latina women represent 13% of the female population but suffer another 20% of all abortions. Together, they suffer 56% of all abortions yet they represent only 25% of our nation’s population.
When it comes to Planned Parenthood, two out of every three of their abortion facilities are located in Black American neighborhoods. Factor in that they are now targeting growing Hispanic families, and that number shoots up to 76%. We can no longer ignore the fact that Planned Parenthood disproportionately targets minority communities.
This new “Super Center” being built in Houston, TX is no different. It is strategically positioned right in the center of four minority neighborhoods. One is 80% Black American and the other three average an 85% Hispanic population.
In addition, Planned Parenthood will be poised to cash in on a convenient student body with the University of Houston and Texas Southern University merely blocks away.
Show Me The Money
Recently, a Director for Planned Parenthood of Houston & Southeast Texas had a startling revelation. Abby Johnson was asked to assist in a rare ultrasound-guided abortion procedure. Asked to hold the ultrasound probe on a woman’s belly for the doctor, she watched on the screen as the abortion tool was inserted into the woman’s uterus. Abby was unexpectedly shocked to see the 12-week old baby “moving and trying to get away from the instrument.” In a “flash,” she experienced a complete change of heart and mind, and she knew that she was witnessing LIFE being destroyed. It was a baby, and it was ALIVE. Her heart sank as she watched in horror as the baby’s body “crumbled” in an instant.
This change of heart threw all of Planned Parenthood’s activities into question for her even though she was the Director of one of their facilities. She has since resigned her job with Planned Parenthood and is becoming a powerful voice for the unborn.
Abby Johnson said, “One of their goals was to make money, and the way they make money is to increase the number of abortions.” Abby went on to explain that women’s health care is secondary to the profitability of increasing the number of abortions performed. When the economy took a downward turn impacting her business, Abby was instructed by her superiors to “get more abortions in the door” in order to compensate for the financial loss. This gruesome business model must be exposed. Planned Parenthood’s sentiments about women’s health are disingenuous at best.
When Barbara Walters recently discussed this story on The View, even liberal host Joy Behar declared, “That’s really gross. The idea that they’re making money at it. It’s just obnoxious.” Co-host Sherri Shepherd, a Black American woman, agreed. Adding from her own personal experience of seeking an abortion at age 17, Sherri said that she was pressured by Planned Parenthood to just get the abortion and was not given any alternatives. (see video)
The bottom line for Planned Parenthood is simple: More abortions equal more money.
The Next Wave
It’s time for all of us to take our stand with the families of these minority communities. It’s time for the abortion issue to become a justice issue. Well known author and pastor, John Piper, recently wrote on his Twitter a statement that is both profound and prophetic in its clarity concerning the ending of abortion:
“Wave 1: Catholics say NO to abortion. Wave 2: Evangelicals flood the land with CPC's. Wave 3: Blacks & Latinos bring it down.”
It is time for our America’s minority peoples to lead this nation with the voice of justice and family values. Let those who have been targeted for death become the prophets for LIFE.
Who knows? Houston could become the Birmingham of our day to let the unborn go free and spare the pregnant mother the agony of post-abortion physical and spiritual trauma. Out of Houston a great demonstration of compassion could be launched through pregnant mother care with a mass movement of adoption. Out of Houston the voice of our minority peoples could begin to proclaim to the nation their stand for life.
Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” Clearly, for every child God has a dream. Martin Luther King, Jr. cried, “I have a dream!” His niece Alveda King has prophetically stated, “How can the dream live as long as we kill our children?” God also has a dream for America, and a massive six-story abortion facility has never been a part of that dream. Let the nightmare end, and let the dream live.
